Volunteers are the heart of our film festival! They make the festival fun, welcome our filmmakers, assist attendees and have fun doing it! Each year, we rely on volunteers to make the festival a great success! There are many opportunities to volunteer during the festival and all year long. Join us and help support the the oldest genre fest in America! The Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival is looking to fill a number of festival committee positions. HELP WANTED: Associate Programmer
The Associate Programmer will work under the Festival Director to research, find and evaluate films for festival consideration. The Associate Programmer will research and track films currently screening at festivals as well as at distributors and other sources. With approval from the Festival Director, the Associate Programmer will locate film’s direct source and make initial contact. Lastly, the Associate Programmer will assist the Festival Director in evaluating each film and its relative strength within Boston SciFi’s Overall Screening Program.
HELP WANTED: Box Office Manager
Boston SciFi is looking for a strong operationally minded individual to coordinate and facilitate SF45’s Ticket Sales Program. The Box Office Manager will set up all ticketing platforms as well as provide customer service as needed and/or requested. Lastly, the Box Office Manager’s responsibilities will include coordinating with screening and other venues, assuring ticket discounts are accurate and that pricing is correct. Reconciling of sales before, during, and after the festival is essential. The Box Office Manager will work closely with the Festival Venue Managers, and the Festival Director.
HELP WANTED: Film Reviewers
Film reviewers will screen, evaluate and rate submitted films. This will be completed on our web based film submission portal. Follow through, timeliness and conciseness are needed and valued.
HELP WANTED: Marketing Manager
The Marketing Manager will create and implement an overall marketing strategy. This will be derived for the needs of other departments, such as social media and PR, but it will need an insightful understanding of the changing dynamics within the film festival market as well as understanding the various constituencies Boston SciFi serves.
HELP WANTED: Newsletter Editor
Looking for a well versed writer/editor to publish our newsletter and engage in other writing assignments. Marketing savviness is appreciated as will as good follow through. Staying on deadline is essential. Understanding of MailChimp’s potential or equivalent a plus with some graphic design ability is needed.
HELP WANTED: Podcast Production Coordinator
Boston SciFi is looking for an accomplished individual to create, oversee, and produce podcasts for our festival podcast program.
HELP WANTED: Sales Manager
Boston SciFi is looking for a strong candidate to oversee all aspects of ad sales revenue. Paid ad revenue includes sponsorships, program ads, on-screen advertising etc.. Actual production of these elements are not necessary, but understanding the production process is essential. The Sales Manager will work closely with strategic sponsors like Boston Dig and with our various production teams.
HELP WANTED: Video Content Manager
Video Content Manager will responsible for the creation of visual images representing Boston Sci-Fi. This may include in theater trailers, on line trailers, and video marketing materials, for submissions and recruitment purposes. During the festival, the Video Content Manager will over see recording of interviews, panels, and coverage. Getting this material seen during the festival will be one of their responsibilities. Interfacing with strategic partners who are supplying videos will also fall under the Video Content Manager’s umbrella.
HELP WANTED: Volunteer Coordinator
Boston Sci-Fi is looking for a personable, detail oriented person to manage our volunteer program. This person will be responsible for recruiting, managing, scheduling, and working with all of our volunteers within the various departments of the festival including: street teams, event coverage, box office, etc. The volunteer coordinator will work closely with the Operations Director and Assistant Festival Director to ensure all volunteers are scheduled, met, and thanked!
