This event series will celebrate and examine the cultural and activist impact of ballroom culture within LGBTQ+, Black, and Latinx communities. The program recognizes ballroom as a vital space for creativity, resilience, and self-expression that has profoundly influenced conversations on identity, belonging, and social justice for decades.
Through a thoughtfully curated lineup including a panel discussion, oral histories from established ballroom houses, and a culminating live performance, the series will engage participants in exploring the intersections of identity, race, gender, and activism. Each component will illuminate how ballroom continues to serve as both an artistic movement and a catalyst for social change.
By centering the voices and experiences of those within the ballroom community, this initiative seeks to preserve cultural history, foster intergenerational dialogue, and amplify the ongoing contributions of LGBTQ+ people of color to the broader social and artistic landscape.
