Cake is a magical drag goddess born in Chicago, and now she lives in Washington, DC performing all across the DMV. Her rhythm and ethereal style are bound to captivate you. She was recently crowned DC’s Best Drag Queen by the Washington Blade, and has been taking the scene by storm since.
DESTINY B. CHILDS
DDestiny B. Childs came onto the Drag scene in 2003. She started out performing only once or twice a month at a local show in Washington DC known as Sequins and Studs, a variety show featuring drag queens and live performers. In July of 2003 Destiny started working as the Manager of Freddie’s Beach Bar and the owner was in need of a Drag queen to take over the drag show, Freddie’s Follies. Freddie Lutz took a chance and told Destiny she would now be the host and Show Director. In December of 2004 during a snowstorm Destiny received a call from the most sought-after premier show in Washington DC. The show director of Ziegfeld’s called needing a last-minute girl to fill in and Destiny jumped at the chance. That night her career took off.
Destiny has been performing for over 15 years in the Washington DC metro area. Destiny has been blessed with winning multiple titles over the last 20 years. Her titles include Miss Capital Pride, Miss Zodiac, Miss Freddie’s, Miss International Gay Rodeo, Miss Gaye USA , Miss Gaye America DC , Miss Gaye Universe, was honored as the first Empress for the Imperial Court of Washington DC, Miss Ziegfeld’s, and the Queen Mother of Washington DC. Destiny is the show Director for the #1 voted Drag Show in the Washington DC area, Freddie’s Follies. Freddie’s Follies just celebrated 20 years of Entertainment in the DMV. Destiny has the honor of being a producer for the annual Capital Pride Celebration and has served as the Host of the Festival and Concert for 19 years. Destiny received the Capital Pride Honors Award in 2010 for her dedication to the community and Capital Pride.
Destiny has the pleasure of traveling the United States performing all over not only just to perform, but she is able to showcase her talents to raise money for charities all over the country. Destiny has been blessed to spend most of her time hosting various fundraisers and benefits to raise thousands and thousands of dollars. Destiny has just hit 18 years hosting the Capital Pride concert in our Nation’s Capital! Destiny was Miss Capital Pride 2010 and was honored as a Capital Pride Hero in 2010 for her years of community work. Destiny has also had the pleasure of performing at the historic Howard Theatre, Maryland LIVE Casino, and the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore, MD
Destiny joined the Imperial Court of Washington DC in 2011 and was crowned Empress 2, the First Empress of the ICWDC. Destiny has been on the board of Directors for the Imperial Court of Washington DC for over 9 years. She has served as the Fundraising Chair, Vice President, President of the Board for 8 years and is the current Dean of the College of Monarchs. Destiny works hard to ensure all members of the ICWDC feel welcomed, safe, and loved. Destiny is determined to continue the mission of the ICWDC with her Board of Directors as a single unit, a team that strives for greatness. As Destiny works with her members, she is humbled to be a part of a strong and faithful group that loves to help build up each other and lift our community up in many ways. Destiny is The Queen Mother of Washington DC and is blessed to know she leads her members to great accomplishments. Destiny was also the Vice President & President of the International Court Council and was Heir to Queen Mother 1 of the America’s Nicole the Great.
SHI-QUEETA
Shi-Queeta is a female impersonator extraordinaire and a DC institution. She is a cast member, musical artist, producer, director and CEO of VanHook Productions, LLC. She specializes in impersonations that include Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, and Tina Turner. Her credits are demonstrable and far too numerous to name. However, following are a few (with hyperlinks for your entertainment): Emceed/hosted and performed locally at Institutions such as the Howard Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Crazy Aunt Helen’s, Party HQ, Hamilton Live, Bethesda blues & Jazz Club and H-Street Country Club. Live performances at Howard Theater & Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club include “Shi-Queeta Lee’s Salute to Divas” “Motown Twisted”, “The 5 HeartBeats Twisted”, “DreamGirls Twisted”, and “The Wiz Twisted”.
Ms. Lee has appeared on various local broadcast television affiliates, including WTTG (Fox 5), WJLA (ABC), and WFLA (News Channel 8), NBC4 news bringing awareness to various charities and events important to the LGBT+ community. She has been a regular host and performer at DC Pride events, She was Honored with the 2022 MULUSA Legendary Award, 2023 I Am Legacy Award, 2023 Dupont Underground Change Markers, 2023 Capital Pride Hero. Her musical talents include club tracks available via iTunes, such as: “When I Walk”(2017); “I Love You (featuring Duane A. Moody and J. Quan Williams) (2015); “Tonight! (Ain’t Sayin’ No) (2014); and “My Name is Love” (2012).
In 2016, she the 1st Drag Queen performed at the White House for the Transgender Community Briefing to “unite transgender leaders and other community members to discuss policy issues and celebrate cultural accomplishments.” Notably, this Event was believed to be the first time a female impersonator performed at the White House. On the national stage, she has been seen on NBC’s America’s Got Talent 2009 , ABC’s Hit Series “UglyBetty”, Verizon In The Know “Behind the Drag”.
